TOPEKA, KS—A Topeka man was indicted Wednesday on a federal carjacking charge in connection with a November incident in which a man was stabbed, U.S. Attorney Barry Grissom said.
Raymond Ryan Campa, 31, Topeka, Kan., was charged with one count of carjacking. The indictment alleges that on Nov. 26, 2014, he used force against a victim in order to steal a 2014 Chevrolet Impala. In November, Topeka police reported a 65-year-old man was hospitalized in the incident.
If convicted, Campa faces a maximum penalty of 25 years in federal prison and a fine up to $250,000. The Topeka Police Department and the FBI investigated. Assistant U.S. Attorney Jared Maag is prosecuting.
In all cases, defendants are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty. The indictments merely contain allegations of criminal conduct.
