A properly running vehicle means that passengers should also feel safe in it. Laws and regulations are implemented to ensure the safety of motorists. Mandatory car features such as an efficient braking system are also being exercised. Car safety first became an issue after the invention of the automobile, when Nicolas-Joseph Cugnot crashed his steam-powered automobile against a wall in 1771.
Car companies today, like Saturn, are coming up with various innovations that will enhance vehicle safety, including seat belts and airbags. But before these advancements in car safety, the basic focus of car makers was the vehicle's frame or body. One example is the Saturn bumper.
A Saturn bumper helps during collisions. It basically help prevent severe damages to the car's frame. Bumpers were originally made of heavy steel, in later years they have been constructed of rubber, plastic, or painted light metal leaving them susceptible to damage from even minimal contact.
Bumpers used to be a little more than a strap or flat iron. Later on they were enhanced to chromed bumpers, especially in the 1960s. In the early 1970s self repairing bumpers were introduced and after a while they became mandatory. Towards the end of the 1980s the self repairing bumpers went out of style and was replaced with fiberglass bumpers. These fiberglass bumpers were lighter but were not very reliable since they crack easily.
Aside from its safety functions, a Saturn bumper can also add to the exterior look of the car. Bumper can really turn heads. Today, bumpers come in different make and design, so enhancing the look of the front end of the car is really simple. This car accessory is another easy way of improving the exterior finish of any car. Saturn bumpers will suit any Saturn vehicles including, Saturn Ion sedan, Saturn Ion Quad coupe, Saturn L300 sedan, Saturn L30 wagon, Saturn Vue and Saturn Relay.
