All types of vehicles need an effective ignition, and achieving this is not difficult. Motorists only need quality spark plugs and plug wires. It is for this reason why Audi vehicles easily start up. Equipped with efficient Audi spark plug wires and Audi spark plugs, Audi ignitions run without glitches. Audi spark plugs are electrical devices that fit into the cylinder head of an engine. These parts are responsible for igniting compressed aerosol gasoline in the engine with an electric spark. Audi plugs have an insulated center electrode that are hooked to an ignition coil by way of a heavily insulated wire. It then forms a spark gap contained within the cylinder with a grounded terminal, located on the base of the plug. Audi spark plugs employ a ceramic insert in order to isolate the high voltage at the electrode. This ensures that the spark happens at the tip of the electrode and not anywhere else on the plug.
Audi spark plug wires, on the other hand, are responsible for collecting tens of thousands of volts as well as for directing that same energy to the spark plugs every time the engine is started. Audi plug wires, as these are sometimes called, are connected to the spark plugs and distributor or ignition coils. Compared to typical wires, Audi spark plug wires are constructed to generate a great deal of resistance. This resistance significantly reduces the radio static produced by the ignition system. A standard plug wire has a resistance of about 10,000 to 15,000 ohms per foot of length. Any higher than this and the wire will likely malfunction. However, the longer the spark plug wires are operating, the more brittle the insulation gets and the core eventually develops cracks. The resulting breakdown in the spark plug wire means that the electricity will be redirected elsewhere. This, in turn, may cause engine misfiring along with fouled Audi spark plugs and rough running.
Since they are exposed to arduous stress, Audi spark plugs and Audi spark plug wires often have need of regular preventive maintenance checks. It is recommended that these parts be checked during tune-ups to determine if one needs to do a bit of fixing or if securing replacements will be better.
