The Toyota Camry has been known as the best selling vehicle of the Japanese automaker. And if one should look closely, it is easy to understand why millions have decided to own a Camry. In Canada, the hybrid version of the Camry has won the prestigious title of being the Automobile Journalists Association's Canadian Car of the Year. Although the Camry may have been bested by the Saturn Aura in the United States, it is clear that there are still a lot of people looking at the Camry for its reliability and the fusion of comfort, safety, and quality.
The 2008 model year version of the Toyota Camry Hybrid was recently delivered to Canadian consumers and it is expected that the Canadians love affair with the Camry will continue as the midsize sedan brings to the table its trademark qualities and more. According to theautochannel.com, the automaker designed the 2008 Toyota Camry to deliver performance, style, quality and comfort which Canadians are looking for on their vehicles. Additional selling points for the Camry, which will surely be appreciated by Canadian consumers, is its exemplary fuel efficiency and low greenhouse gas emissions.
"We are thrilled that Canadians have embraced the Camry Hybrid," said Tony Wearing, Managing Director of Toyota Canada Inc. He also pointed out that sales for the super fuel efficient hybrid have increased for the first seven months of this year compared to the same period last year. "The Camry Hybrid has accounted for almost 20% of all Canadian Camry line sales in the first 7 months of this year."
"As Canadian drivers are discovering, the Camry Hybrid delivers more than just great fuel efficiency and a fraction of the tailpipe emissions of a conventional automobile. It's also big on performance thanks to smooth and powerful hybrid acceleration and Toyota's top of the line vehicle dynamics and control technologies," added Wearing.
While most car buyers think that hybrids are slow vehicles due to the fact that they consume less fuel, the truth is the opposite of that belief. What a hybrid uses to make its internal combustion engine burn less fuel is also the same component which gives it better performance. It is widely known that hybrid vehicles such as the Camry Hybrid use an electric motor to power the vehicle when the engine is shut down during select operation. This same electric motor also provides increased pulling power to the internal combustion engine giving a hybrid better acceleration. That's why even if a hybrid burns less fuel; it has the performance to keep up with non-hybrid cars even those equipped with Monroe shocks.
The 2008 Toyota Camry Hybrid comes with a lot of standard features which includes a top of the line JBL Synthesis Audio System which features an AM/FM stereo, in-dash 6-disc CD changer, and MP3/WMA player. The said audio system has audio auxiliary input jack for instant connectivity with a music player. It boasts of eight speakers and steering wheel mounted audio system controls for more convenience. It also comes with a garage door opener. For those who want more features, the 2008 Toyota Camry Hybrid is offered with a Premium Package.
