FBI Louisville Announces Arrest of Ashton Nally on Federal Carjacking Charges

LOUISVILLE, KY—The FBI Carjacking Violent Crime Task Force announces the arrest of Ashton Nally on Sunday, December 13, 2020 on federal carjacking charges resulting in the death of Travis Nagdy. Louisville Field Office FBI special agents, working with the Louisville Metro Police Department Homicide Unit, arrested Nally at approximately 11:30 a.m. in Madisonville, Kentucky. In addition, the Madisonville Police Department and the United States Secret Service assisted in the operation. Nally was taken into custody without incident and remains in federal custody until his initial appearance later this afternoon, December 14, 2020.

“Victims of violent crime matter. Working with our federal, state, and local partners, the FBI is committed to fostering safe communities by removing violent criminals from our neighborhoods. We want to thank the Louisville Metro Police Department, Madisonville Police Department, and U.S. Secret Service for their partnership throughout this investigation,” said Robert Brown, special agent in charge, FBI, Louisville Field Office.

“The arrest this weekend highlights the valued importance of continued partnership between LMPD and our state and federal partners in combating the swelling tide of violent crime in our community. Working together with these partners and our community, we can better set about the work of making our city a better, safer place to live and work for all.” said Chief Yvette Gentry.

This investigation was conducted by the Federal Carjacking Violent Crime Task Force comprised of the FBI, ATF, HSI, KSP, JCSO, and LMPD.

The public is reminded that this release is not evidence that the individuals discussed committed the crimes charged. All defendants are presumed innocent until the government meets its burden in court of proving guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
