Denise Richards Missed Out On A New Volvo

Denise Richards Missed Out On A New Volvo

October 2, 2007

Denise Richards missed out on a new Volvo car after she failed to attend Thursday night’s opening of Manhattan Volvo Showroom. According to the event organizers, they had a contract for the actress to be there. Richards’ representative, meanwhile, said that it is not true.

As reported by New York Daily News, sources attributed the no-show to stress over her continuing nasty divorce with Charlie Sheen. "There was a contract for her to be there, and she was going to get a lease on a new Volvo in return," said one insider.

But a spokeswoman for Richards said that her manager "passed on [the offer] right away." "We never even asked Denise; there was no contract. She's not in New York," added the spokeswoman.

The former Mrs. Charlie Sheen is famed for playing challenging roles in Starship Troopers, Wild Things and The World Is Not Enough. In 2002, she married Sheen, with whom she appeared in Scary Movie 3. In the said movie, the voluptuous actress played Sheen's dying wife. The controversial couple has two daughters - Sam J and Lola Rose.

In March 2005, Richards first filed for divorce from Sheen. The couple sought marriage counseling and briefly reconciled. But on January 4, 2006, Richards' representative announced that the actress was continuing with the divorce proceedings. Three months after Richards filed formal legal papers asking for divorce from Sheen under the laws of the state of California.

In her court filing, the American actress alleged that Sheen's behavior was increasingly erratic, making their marriage impossible, and that she feared for her safety and the safety of their daughters.

The voluptuous actress was named the Sexiest Mom of 2005 by In Touch Weekly magazine. And for those who thinks Volvos are not sexy but are boxy, they might change their mind if they see Richards in one.

Richards was not there at the opening of Volvo’s new showroom. But stargazers are still lucky to have the stunning Academy Award-winning American actress Marcia Gay Harden who lent a little dazzle at the showroom. She was given a brand new Volvo.

Volvo Cars, the Gothenburg-Sweden based automaker, has etched a reputation for safety and quality. But some auto aficionados find the company’s lineup boxy; hence the effort to make it sexy and more appealing. In this line of thinking, the manufacturer of the Volvo 780 radiator is now entertaining flowing lines and curves to emphasize shape, appeal and styling.
