ATLANTA—David J. LeValley, special agent in charge (SAC), FBI Atlanta Field Office, in conjunction with SAC Timothy Gallagher, Newark FBI Field Office, announce the following arrest in Lithonia, Georgia.
Donell Cook, age 27, of Newark, New Jersey, was arrested by FBI agents and Task Force Officers of the FBI led Atlanta Metro Major Offender’s (AMMO) Task Force, along with tremendous assistance from the Dekalb County Police Department today, November 29, at a residence in Lithonia, Georgia.
On September 29, 2017, Cook failed to appear for sentencing at Middlesex County Superior Court, New Brunswick, New Jersey. Cook pleaded guilty to 2nd degree aggravated assault of a police officer stemming from a vehicle pursuit wherein the officer was dragged approximately fifty feet.
After the initial fugitive investigation indicated that Cook had fled to the metro Atlanta area, a federal Unlawful Flight to Avoid Prosecution (UFAP) warrant was obtained.
Cook is currently being detained at the Dekalb County Detention Facility, Dekalb County, Georgia, where he awaits extradition back to New Jersey.
