One of the hardest hit American automakers with the surge of Japanese automakers is Chrysler. But the automaker acquired Jim Press from Toyota and is now in the middle of its turnaround plan. The automaker is looking to be back to profitability by next year. And the automaker is moving in the right direction as it recorded its highest sale of used cars last month.
The automaker reported selling 9,660 units of certified pre-owned vehicles last month. Last year, for the month of October, Chrysler collectively sold 9,234 units of used vehicles. All the three brands under the Chrysler banner posted increase in sales of pre-owned vehicles for the month of October this year.
The Chrysler brand reported sales of certified pre-owned vehicles increased by 4 percent compared to October of 2006 sales. The Jeep brand rose by 2 percent and CPO Dodge vehicles sold last month was 4 percent more than those sold last year for the same period. Dodge posted the highest number of CPO vehicles sold last month with 3,993 units.
For the first ten months of the year, Chrysler has already recorded 103,929 CPO vehicles sold, the most that they have sold in any year for the same period. Year to date sale for the automaker increased by six percent from January to October this year compared to the same period last year.
The Chrysler 300 and the 300C are some of the most popular CPO vehicles among consumers, sales of the said models increased by 44 percent last month to 5,684 units. The Jeep Wrangler is also popular among consumers as sales of the said model increased by 25 percent in October. Likewise, the Dodge Magnum which uses reliable Dodge spark plug wires also posted an increase in sale of 24 percent.
"The numbers speak for themselves, CPOV has a positive impact on dealership traffic and customer loyalty," Peter Grady said. Grady is the Director for Remarketing at Chrysler. "Our CPOV brand draws shoppers into our dealer showrooms, and once they are part of the Chrysler LLC family of vehicles, it is our intent that they consider a Chrysler, Jeep or Dodge product when shopping for their next vehicle," he added.
Certified pre-owned vehicles undergo inspection before they are offered to consumers. Chrysler goes to great lengths to make sure that the CPO vehicles they will be selling will be of good quality. The automaker will be looking to continue their increasing sale not only for certified pre-owned vehicles but also for new units.
