William Robert Lancaster IV, 36, of Albuquerque, was arrested on a federal bank robbery charge for allegedly robbing a Wells Fargo in northeast Albuquerque on Monday, February 26, 2018.
The FBI is seeking to talk to a driver who allegedly gave the suspect a ride from a business near the bank to another location about three and a half miles away, where Lancaster was detained by the Albuquerque Police Department.
The driver, who witnesses said was approached by Lancaster after the robbery, is considered a witness and not a suspect at this time.
The vehicle is described as an older model gold Jeep Cherokee.
Wells Fargo, 11199 Montgomery Boulevard NE, was robbed at approximately 11:52 a.m.
Lancaster was detained a short time later in the 6200 block of Montgomery Boulevard NE and transferred to federal custody.
He is expected to have an initial appearance in U.S. District Court in Albuquerque on Tuesday, February 27, 2018.
The alleged driver or anyone who knows the driver’s identity is asked to call the FBI at (505) 889-1300.
The public is reminded all defendants in a criminal case are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
