Death Investigation Underway on Blue Ridge Parkway |

On Tuesday, July 24, 2018, at approximately 7:30 p.m., Blue Ridge Parkway dispatch received a call from the General Manager of the Pisgah Inn reporting that a female employee was missing. National Park Service Rangers, with assistance from local rescue crews, began a search of the area near the Inn. At approximately 10:30 p.m., a deceased female was located near a path connecting Pisgah Inn employee housing with the Inn.
At this time, the investigation is ongoing and the cause of death is unknown. Positive identification of the victim is pending.
The incident occurred on federal property, therefore the Federal Bureau of Investigation will be the lead investigative agency, with assistance from the National Park Service and the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation.
