FBI, KPD Offering Reward for Information About Suspect Wanted for Shooting at Knoxville Police Officer

FBI Knoxville

Special Agent Jason Pack

KNOXVILLE, TENN—The FBI’s Knoxville Field Office and the Knoxville Police Department are offering up to a $5,000 dollar reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the man who fired shots at a Knoxville Police Officer last month.

On July 17, 2018 at approximately 2:40 a.m., KPD Officer Dean Ray heard an audible alarm coming from Aladdin’s Deli, located at 1428 North Central Avenue.

As Officer Ray approached the business, he saw a suspect flee the building into a silver Mercury Mountaineer, later determined to be stolen, which left the parking lot at a high rate of speed.

Officers gave chase to the vehicle. The suspect fired at least two shots on Woodland Avenue at Officer Ray during the pursuit. He was not injured during the chase.

The stolen Mountaineer was recovered and the suspect is believed to have stolen a black 2001 Dodge Ram 1500 pickup truck. The paint on the truck is peeling at several spots, uncovering a red color beneath the black paint. The suspect is described as a Caucasian male with short, light-colored hair, last seen wearing a black tank top and blue jeans. KPD believes he may have associates in the homeless areas downtown.

If you know this individual or have any information about this crime, you are asked to call the Knoxville Police Department at 865-215-7212 or the FBI’s Knoxville Field Office at 865-544-0751
