“Lights in the Mirror” is a collaborative effort between the FBI Springfield Division, Illinois State Police, Illinois Sheriff’s Association, and the Illinois Association of Chiefs of Police. Understanding how police procedures and your rights are determined will make better informed drivers and citizens.
The video reinforces positive attributes regarding what to do if you are pulled over by law enforcement. The video highlights important safety considerations to be taken when being pulled over on an interstate, in a rural setting, and within a city. This video emphasizes citizens' rights under the Fourth Amendment and serves as a starting point to find those answers regarding citizens' rights.
Special recognition is extended to the Sangamon County Sheriff’s Office, the Springfield Police Department, Illinois State Police, Central Illinois Film Commission, Capitol Area Career Center, Pleasant Plains High School, and Southeast High School. The Springfield Field Office will distribute the video with assistance from the Illinois Association of School Administrators, Illinois Association of School Boards, Illinois High School and College Driver Education Association, the Illinois Principals Association, and the FBI Springfield Citizens Academy Alumni Association.
The video may be used in a variety of settings such as driver education classes, student orientation programs at colleges and universities, and community forums.
