Forbes Named Ten Vehicles With Highest Resale Value

Automobiles will grow old no matter how much owners take care of it. But since vehicles are considered as investments, one should make sure that he or she will still be able to sell the vehicle at a good price. To help consumers find out which vehicles today have a high resale value, Forbes created their list of the top ten vehicles with the best resale value.

One of the vehicles included on the list is the BMW M6. According to Forbes, the car costs about $99,100 today. After five years, the residual value left of the vehicle will be still at 48 percent. Eric Ibara, the director of market valuation for Kelley Blue Book, said: "People buy into an exclusive club when they buy this car. That always bodes well for residual value." Furthermore, this car was also given the Excellent rating by Consumer Reports.

Next on the list is the Cadillac Escalade. With a base price today of $54,670, it is expected to have a residual value left after five years will be at 48 percent. Ibara had this to say about the Escalade: "For someone in this price category, luxury has no price limit - and high gas prices are not a deterrent from either buying, or resale value." Larry Batton of Auto Appraisal Group pointed out that residual value of the Escalade after five years may be affected with the increasing price of fuel. "If gas prices keep going up, the resale value (of the Escalade) will eventually go down," said Batton.

Another vehicle include in the list is the Chevrolet Corvette. Residual value after five years for this car is estimated to be at 48 percent. "This is a case where the perception of having a coveted, classic car means a lot to buyers - both new and used," said Ibara. The rarity of the Corvette Z06 gives it an even better residual value after five years.

The Honda Civic Si is also included on the list with about 48 percent of its residual value left after five years. Batton calls the Civic Si "a strong overall performer". Ibara also pointed out the Si Civic is more valuable than the base Civic. "We’ve noticed that the Civic Si has even better residual value than the base models, so the extra performance for the money is well worth it," said Ibara.

Other vehicles which made it to the list are the MINI Cooper S with residual value left at 48 percent after five years. The Pontiac Solstice is also expected to retain 48 percent of its value after five years. The Porsche 911 GT3, Saturn Sky, the Volkswagen Rabbit, and the Scion tC are also expected to have the same residual value after five years which means that they are as reliable as Dodge brake discs.
