LOUIS BERGDOLL WILL DRIVE IN BIG RACE AT SAVANNAH

The Indianapolis Star
1 November 1908

Noted Philadelphian and Multi-Millionaire Will Pilot the Fast Chalmers-Detroit Car.

Pursuing his usual sportsmanlike policy of being a contender at every big auto contest possible, Louis J. Bergdoll is going to be a competitor in the Savannah Sweepstakes, which takes place on Thanksgiving Day.

Bergdoll loves to be a winner, a preference of which he by no means has a monopoly, and the remarkable way in which the Chalmers-Detroit "30" has been rolling up triumphs lately has convinced the millionaire Philadelphia sportsman that in a car of this type he would have more than a chance to come out in first place.

Of the recent triumps that have stamped the quality of the Chalmers-Detroit none stands out more strongly than the races held Oct. 10 on the new motor speedway, New York, built for holding the Vanderbilt Cup race and similar events.

The Chalmers-Detroit was entered for the Jericho Sweepstakes, 140 miles, and two cars of the make finished first and second, the winner being driven by Burns and the other by Bowers.

It is a duplicate of this car that Bergdoll will drive in the Savannah contest, and in view of his success at Ormond Beach last spring, where he established several new records, he will undoubtedly go into this event heavily backed to win.
