23 April 1925
Extending their city beautiful campaign into the country, merchants of Decatur, through the chamber of commerce, are beautifying and cleaning up every entrance to the city, so that tourists and others using highways will receive a good impression of the town before they cross the corporation limits.
In places the park board has taken charge of tracts used in the past as dumps, and by cleaning and planting, has transformed the unsightly rubbish heaps into tidy pieces of landscape. Tree planting is a part of the program, and in time the chamber of commerce hopes to make every road entering the city a beauty spot.
