Joyce Winfield, Pimm's Cup, and Renault

PLEASE CHECK the interesting photograph immediately to the right of this column, taken by one of MOTORACING'S staff photographers, Dave Davidson (the lucky stiff!).

There, for you to drool, is lovely, auburn-haired Joyce Winfield, versatile (!) 21-year old actress—“Miss Pimms.”

Alongside one of those spiffy, economical French Renaults Joyce displays the pewter Pimm's Cup Premier Award which she will present to the first-place overall winner of the six-hour endurance race Saturday, Oct. 22, at Torrey Pines.

The Pimm's Cup Trophy has been a coveted award in this country in various segments of the sports field.

It made its debut in the U.S. at the National Outdoor Tennis Tournaments held in Palm Springs in 1949-50-51.

Recently Pimm's entered the racing car field with an award presented at the All-Florida Stock Car Races. Torrey Pines is Pimm's bow in the sports car field.

In addition to the Pimm's Cup, the sponsoring California Sports Car Club, through Race and Ray Frug, announces that class awards will be made in the enduro in both production and modified categories, plus 1st, 2nd and 3rd places, overall, in Index of Performance.

But how about some facts on Miss Winfield, an ardent sports car enthusiast who is anxious to drive a red Jag.

In the usual, interesting order she stacks up 35-23-34 1-2, which ain't bad, we hear tell. All of this neatly encased in a frame that stands 5-3 1-2. Her peepers are green.

A native of Los Angeles, Joyce has posed for a number of national ads, appeared on five network TV shows and just recently represented the West Coast in the nationwide “Miss Exquisite Form” contest held in New York in connection with lingerie (plausible) and “Gentlemen Marry Brunettes.”

Vibrant and peaked with energy, when she's not Pimmcupping she's riding horseback, playing golf or basketball, going through calisthenics in her apartment (the address and phone number of which are &%&X—oh heck, why'd you spill that type, Mr. Printer?), or eating Sukiyaki and ice cream.

Joyce was also thrilled spinning around in the little Renault she says she wants to sail for one. Calling Johnny L. Green, Jr.
