Devon Wilkins Mugshot

Des Moines, Iowa - Devon Wilkins, age 30, of Urbandale, pled guilty on October 19, 2022, to one count of Presenting False Information (Class D Felony) following an investigation by the Iowa Insurance Division’s Fraud Bureau.

The investigation began in June of 2022 after the Iowa Insurance Division’s Fraud Bureau received information indicating Wilkins had provided false information to an insurer when purchasing full coverage automobile insurance.

The investigation determined that after Wilkins' car was involved in a single-vehicle collision and sustained over $2,000 in damage she contacted an insurer to purchase auto insurance coverage.  During the purchase, Wilkins provided false information about the existing damage to her vehicle and was granted full coverage of automotive insurance.  Days later, Wilkins filed an insurance claim alleging that the pre-existing damage occurred after she obtained the insurance coverage.  Wilkins’s intent was to receive insurance benefits to which she was not entitled.

Wilkins was arrested on August 11, 2022.

Following her guilty plea, her second original charge of Insurance Application Fraud (Class D Felony) was dismissed.  Wilkins was also granted a Deferred Judgment and received a five-year suspended prison sentence, and was placed on supervised probation for a period of two years.  Wilkins was also ordered to pay a fine of $1,025.
