RALPH B. DORT CONTESTS WILL

Publication: Automotive Daily News
Dateline: Flint, Michigan
Date: 27 August 1925
Topics: Ralph Bates Dort, J. Dallas Dort, Dort

Flint, Mich., Aug. 27.—Ralph Bates Dort, eldest son of the late J. Dallas Dort and one time advertising manager and foreign representative of the Dort Motor Car Company, has appealed his father's will, which was recently admitted to probate here.

Ralph charges it isn't his father's last will; it doesnt express the true intention of the testator; that his father was unduly influenced, and that it does not provide for lawful disposition of property.

Dated July 13, 1916, the will leaves the estate to the widow and three other children. Only mention of Ralph was: “I am not unmindful that I have another son, Ralph Bates Dort, who is not named in this will, but his name is intentionally omitted for reasons which I deem sufficient.”

The father settled a large trust fund on Ralph several years ago when he had a guardian appointed for him. Since Mr. Dort's death in May the son has succeeded in having the guardianship removed.
