I guess it has been proven in the last two weeks that if you DO beat a dead horse, you WILL get somewhere! NASCAR can say what they wish in regards to the loosening of the belt they are about to implement, but the fact of the matter is, the fans, drivers, and team owners have finally been heard loud and clear. However, it is unfortunate that they couldn't put the spoiler back on the cars in time for the upcoming Daytona 500 so we don't have to watch 43 turds run in a straight line like a 185 mph parade lap. Yet, after the final test at Charlotte in March, the spoilers will be phased back in once again. Not only that, but a molded air dam is going to be part of the test package, too! Maybe cars will look somewhat like cars once again! Anyone hear how the test at College Town, Texas went?

Here's another breath of fresh air folks! The idea of doing away with the "no passing zones" at Daytona and Talladega might be on the chopping block as well as the "No bump drafting" policy which made the November event in Alabama a sleeper. It took a progressive downward spiral over the last several seasons for the NASCAR Nazis to admit they had made their sport "too sterile" and it isn't "good for the sport". Wow, imagine passion, enthusiasm, and well, drivers being drivers returning to NASCAR! Duh...really? You make it sound like this was on YOUR idea! Anyway...

Speaking o Talladega, yours truly will get his chance behind the wheel May 16th, 2010 at the fastest, and biggest track on the circuit courtesy of the missus' Christmas gift. They are holding a "Dale Jr Fan Appreciation Day" and though the facts are still a little foggy, it's unsure whether I get to drive an 88 car, or ride along in an 88 car. Whichever, I still get an eight minute driving session with the pedal to the floor.

Keep an eye on Bump-Drafts.com during the weekend of the Daytona 500 as I will be submitting reports "almost" as they happen covering events from the Living Legends of Auto Racing, autograph sessions, to the Nationwide Race, and Great American Race complimented by a new amusement park on the Superstretch at Daytona International Speedway. I may throw in a few articles here about great places to have a cold one and enjoy some ambiance. Stay tuned!
