ALBANY, Nov. 23.—The Bureau of Motor Vehicles today issued a warning to motorists who intend to make Winter holiday tours in which it called attention to the hazards of slippery pavements and fog.

"Changing weather often turns wet spots to glaring ice, making it difficult to control swift-moving cars and leading to many serious accidents," it said. "Motorists who contemplate a tour at Thanksgiving time will do well to drive with the utmost care unless roads are dry and the vision is clear."

According to the records of the bureau, there were 1,054 accidents, involving 20 deaths, in January on roads described as "icy surfaces." In the first five months of this year the number of accidents under these conditions was 2,209, involving 57 deaths. In 1929 fog was responsible for 754 accidents, which resulted in 34 deaths.
