CONCORD, NC (7/8/09) – Venturini Motorsports in their quest to be the ultimate stepping-stone into NASCAR, has furthered that process by adding legendary ASA Late Model team, T.D. Racing Development to their lineup of affiliated teams.
With the addition of T.D. Racing Development, Venturini Motorsports will now have a team ready to groom young talent not yet ready to race in the ARCA RE/MAX Series. Both teams will be working closely together in order to ensure the drivers succeed not only in the ASA Series with T.D. Racing but also if they move up to ARCA with Venturini Motorsports.
“We are pleased to announce our relationship with T.D. Racing Development, which I believe will provide us another medium to find young talented drivers. Mike (Dassow) and Howie (Lettow) have done an amazing job in the ASA ranks and they will provide a great program, with hopes of moving the kids up to ARCA one day,” commented Crew Chief Billy Venturini.
Dassow, Legendary Crew Chief, Howie Lettow, and the former WalTom Racing crew joined forces prior to the start of the 2007 racing season to create T.D. Racing Development. In doing so they took a talented driver (Travis Dassow) and a back to back championship team and created a superior combination which resulted in Dassow's 2007 ASALMS Challenge Division Championship.
Lettow has led some big-time names to glory and eventual careers in NASCAR, most recently, former ASA Late Model Series Champions, Travis Dassow and Stephen Leicht. In addition, Three-time Defending NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Champion, Jimmie Johnson began his career under Lettow’s wing.
More names that have been under the tutelage of Lettow include; Mark Martin, David Stremme, Scott Hansen, Tony Raines, Ted Musgrave, and the late Pat Schauer all of whom have won races in the historical ASA National Tour.
Venturini Motorsports has now affiliated themselves with some of the best names in the business, Joe Gibbs Racing in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, CJM Racing in the NASCAR Nationwide Series, Xpress Motorsports and Red Horse Racing in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series, and T.D. Racing Development in the ASA Late Model Series.
