HICKORY, North Carolina (April 28, 2010) – An off-weekend for the ARCA Racing Series has opened the opportunity for Stuart, Florida native Bryan Silas to dabble over in the USARacing Series Pro Cup Series this weekend for Saturday night’s WIX Filters 250 at Hickory (N.C.) Motor Speedway.

Silas, driving the No. 59 Silas Equipment Chevrolet for Mark Gibson Racing (MGR) returns looking for their second straight top-10 finish after the rookie team posted a ninth place finish in the most recent USARacing Series event at New Smyrna (Fla.) Speedway. Itching for more, Silas and company head to the renowned Hickory Motor Speedway thirsty for a win.

“I’m having a great time,” said Silas, who will make his 17th career start this weekend. “Mark and I have really gelled well and we’re having a good time racing on some of the world’s toughest short tracks. Our goal for this weekend is to pick up on the momentum we scored at New Smyrna and put our No. 59 up front on Saturday night.”

Never having the opportunity to compete at the famed Hickory short-track, Silas is entering this weekend’s event with an open-mind but remaining confident that he’ll adapt quickly.

“Anytime you go to a track for the first time, you have to go in with an open mind,” Silas mentioned. “This Mark Gibson Racing team is stout. I think we’ve proven that in our two races together. We’re going to win the WIX Filters 250 on Saturday night and hoping that nothing will stand in our way.”

Silas enters the third race of the 2010 USARacing Series season 14th in the championship standings, just 25 points from entering the top-10 and 115 from taking the top spot from current leader Clay Rogers.

“We’ve been strong in both races this year, we just didn’t have the finish we wanted at Gresham,” sounded Silas. “Points are crucial for us this year as we plan to be a threat in the championship races but we are smart enough to realize that strong finishes will reel in the points and help us in the long run.”

The WIX Filters 250 is set for Saturday, May 1 from Hickory (N.C.) Motor Speedway. The action begins with a forty minute practice session from 12:30 p.m. – 1:10 p.m. and again from 2:45 p.m. – 3:25 p.m. Qualifying is slated for 5:15 p.m. An on-track autograph session has been etched in beginning at 6:45 p.m., with the contest set to take the green flag at 8:00 p.m. All times are local.
