RAB Racing and several ARCA RE/MAX Series teams capitalized on a chance to prepare for the 45th running of the Daytona ARCA 200 set for Saturday, February 9th by testing at Talladega Superspeedway on Wednesday, January 23rd.

RAB Racing used this private test to put some finishing touches on their primary car for Daytona and give John Wes Townley, the newly announced driver for the No. 09 team, seat time.

“Talladega was wet and cold,” Crew Chief Robby Benton said. “It wasn't the most ideal of conditions to test in, but both of our cars ran very well and John Wes got a chance to make laps at Talladega, further advancing his seat time in the ARCA car on Superspeedways. We were quicker than we were in testing there last year, so we feel confident about all the changes we've implemented and look forward to racing the package we have put together for Daytona.”

While the 2.66-mile track of Talladega Superspeedway has its differences from Daytona International Speedway, it is the only other Superspeedway track on the ARCA RE/MAX Series schedule, and testing there proved to be valuable for seat time and car set-up.

“We spent the day focusing on single car runs,” Driver of the No. 09 Ford Fusion, John Wes Townley stated. “Although we had a limited amount of time on the track, due to the weather, I believe the test was very beneficial for all of us. The team’s hard work paid off because this car proved to be fast, and the seat time I obtained will, without a doubt, help me with my first ARCA race at Daytona International Speedway.”

SIM Factory pole qualifying for the ARCA 200 at Daytona International Speedway is scheduled to begin Friday, February 8th at 12:00 PM ET. The ARCA 200 will air live on SPEED Saturday, February 9th, beginning at 4:15 PM ET.
