“Sheltra Delivers Career-Best Qualifying Run”

JOLIET, Illinois (August 27, 2010) - - ARCA Racing Series (ARS) presented by RE/MAX and Menards championship contender Patrick Sheltra flexed his muscle during Menards Pole by Ansell qualifying Friday morning after whipping his No. 60 Sheltra Motorsports Toyota Camry to a lap of 30.480 seconds transferring to a speed of 177.165 miles per hour good enough for the outside pole or the second position for today’s Ansell Protective Gloves 150.

After a early practice run this morning, Sheltra consulted with crew chief Jon Wolfe and his Sheltra Motorsports team about changes made to their Toyota Camry before the start of time trials and obviously the Indiantown, Florida was overjoyed with the changes and the overall outcome of his qualifications run.

“This isn’t about me, it’s about this Sheltra Motorsports team,” said Sheltra. “I’m just the lucky guy that is able to drive it. I’m super proud of their hard work. We were a little worried that because we didn’t test, we might have been behind the ball a little bit. We unloaded and strong and only have gotten stronger these last two days. We have a super car and I’m really looking forward to the race later today.”

The 24-year old added, “I’ll admit that I am not the best qualifier, but I wasn’t going to do anything that could leave us out of the championship chase. Without a doubt, the qualifying run was a morale booster for me and helped us close the gap a little bit in the championship standings.”

By notching his place on the outside of row number one, Sheltra recorded his best qualifying run in what will be his 82nd career start. In addition, Sheltra grabbed 10 crucial bonus points based on ARCA’s qualifying procedure. Previously, Sheltra qualified third at Rockingham (N.C.) Speedway in last year and Michigan International Speedway in June.

Currently, Sheltra sits fourth in the ARCA Racing Series championship chase, just 35 markers out of the lead held by Craig Goess, who because of his pole inherits the point’s lead based on bonus points. So far this season, the Mooresville, North Carolina team has amassed one win, seven top-fives and 11 top-10 finishes in 14 races. The Sheltra Motorsports also leads the ARCA Racing Series speedway challenge sector leaning into today’s event with a 65-point margin over the No. 32 Win-Tron Racing team with two speedway events remaining (Chicagoland and Kansas).

Chicagoland Speedway also marks the fourth and final race in the 2010 edition of the Bill France Four Crown. In that race, Sheltra sits fourth in the standings, just 45 markers behind leader Joey Coulter.
