Authorities in theU.S. state of California say at least eight people were killed when an off-road vehicle lost control during a race in the Southern Californian desert.
A spokeswoman for the sheriff of San Bernardino County said a vehicle from the race plowed into a crowd of spectators Saturday night. A dozen people were injured.
Witnesses say the vehicle hit people who were sitting on rocks. Two of the victims were decapitated.
The annual race attracts people from all over California.
