At least 22 people have been killed in a bus crash in northern India.

Thursday’s crash occurred about 45 kilometers from Shimla, the capital of Himachal Pradesh state.

Officials say the driver lost control of the bus after its brakes failed, causing the vehicle to skid off the road and into a 46-meter deep gorge.

It was the second fatal crash in the state in 24 hours.

On Wednesday, 38 people were killed in a truck accident in the Mandi district of Himachal Pradesh.

Some information in this story was provided by AFP.
