At least eight South African school children were killed Wednesday, when their mini-bus collided with a train at a rail crossing outside Cape Town.
The cause of the accident is under investigation.
The South African Press Association reported that authorities have determined that all the safety devices, including flashing warning lights and the rail crossing booms, were working at the time of the early morning accident.
South African road fatality rates are among the highest in the world.
