Tribune assails Nygren

Gus Philpott
The Woodstock Advocate
October 9, 2010

Be sure to read last week's articles in the Chicago Tribune about Sheriff Keith Nygren, as he tries to dance around the issue of whether a parade is a political event.

Nygren has paid overtime to the department's garage guy to drive him in parades in a non-Department vehicle. Maybe McHenry County should buy a sporty convertible for Nygren? And maybe somebody ought to explain seatbelt rules to Nygren. It'd be a shame if a deputy or a police officer pulled the vehicle out of the parade and wrote Nygren a ticket for riding unbuckled. Would he also write the driver for operating the vehicle with a passenger seating on the top of the back seat (and trunk lid or convertible-top cover)?

Here's one of the articles: www.chicagotribune.com/news/local/ct-met-mchenry-parades-20101007,0,5851199.story
