An article in this morning's Northwest Herald made me smile. It seems that some California drivers are learning expensive lessons about stop signs.
Stop signs in a park popular with morning runners are ignored, and one driver got four tickets in the mail, running up a bill of $700 (no pun intended).
"Ain't that a shame."
In 18 months parks' stop-sign cameras generated 35,000 tickets, and parks have collected almost $2,000,000.
Associated Press reporter Daisy Nguyen showed her true colors, when she wrote about "speed traps" and "cash-strapped cities". If a person runs a stop sign, they deserve a ticket, and it shouldn't require a cop to stand there 24/7 to wait for the person. Cameras are a perfect way to tag stop-sign violators, just as they are for speeding and red-light violations. Next stop might be cell phone users in active school zones.
