SCHUMACHER IN MIX FOR ESPY BEST DRIVER AWARD

U.S. Army Racing
June 25, 2010

NORWALK, Ohio, June 25, 2010 - For the fourth straight year, U.S. Army Top Fuel driver Tony "The Sarge" Schumacher has been nominated for the ESPY Best Driver Award.

The ESPY Awards, which are distributed for Excellence in Sports Performance Yearly, was created by ESPN in 1993. Fans can vote for Schumacher online at espn.com/espys or on the ESPN facebook page - facebook.com/espn. The ESPYs will be hosted by Saturday Night Live "Weekend Update" anchor Seth Meyers on Wednesday, July 14, at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles. The awards show will be televised live by ESPN at 9 p.m. ET.

"Here we go again," said Schumacher, a seven-time world champion. "Perhaps, this will be our year. I really want to win this award so I can present it to our brave Army Strong Soldiers. Without their hard work, we wouldn't have these opportunities in life." Joining Schumacher on the Best Driver ballot is NASCAR drivers Jimmie Johnson, Kyle Busch and Ron Hornaday, as well as open wheel standout Dario Franchitti. "Like in past years, the competition for this award is pretty stout," said the Chicago-area resident. "I'm ecstatic to once again be included in such a group."

Schumacher will be looking to become the first drag racer to win the ESPY Best Driver Award. Other NHRA drivers nominated over the years included John Force, Tony Pedregon, Greg Anderson and Melanie Troxel.
