Police in Malaysia say 12 people are dead and at least 35 injured after an express bus crashed through a barrier and hit four oncoming vehicles.
Police said the accident occurred Sunday evening in southern Negeri Sembilan state. It caused massive traffic jams on Malaysia’s main North-South expressway, making it difficult for ambulances to reach the scene.
Local media quoted passengers saying the bus was going very fast when it skidded and hit a van before crashing through the barrier. It then hit three oncoming cars and a bus belonging to the Malaysia Welfare Department.
Several of the injured are in critical condition. The driver of the express bus was reported among the dead.
