ATLANTA (September 10, 2009) – WHEEGO ELECTRIC CARS, manufacturer of all-electric street legal LSVs (Low Speed Vehicles), today announced it has signed AMPCONTROL, Inc as its dealer with exclusive rights to sell the Wheego Electric Car product line throughout the state of Oklahoma. AMPCONTROL plans to open a Wheego assembly plant in Oklahoma to meet the expected high demand for Wheego cars.
The Wheego Whip LSV qualifies for both the Oklahoma State Tax Credit of 50% of the price of the Electric Vehicle, and the $7500 Federal Tax Credit. With a sticker price of $18,995, Oklahoma residents can drive home a new Wheego Electric Car for a net price of well under $3000.
“We are very excited to have AMPCONTROL represent the Wheego product line,” said Wheego CEO Mike McQuary. “They are innovators, and have a well-deserved reputation for both technological advancement and customer service. They are a great fit for us. This is also great news for Oklahoma both environmentally and economically. Oklahoma is way ahead of the curve in terms of environmental stewardship with the best State Tax Credit in the country. When combined with the Federal Tax Credit, it brings a new all-electric car within reach of every Oklahoma resident. The economy benefits too – the dealerships and AMPCONTROL’s Wheego Assembly Plant will bring new jobs to the state.”
AMPCONTROL CEO Max Heckl predicts the Wheego Whip will be very popular with Oklahoma residents. “We plan to initially launch with dealerships in Oklahoma City and Tulsa, and expand from there. We are also planning on bringing an assembly plant to Piedmont very soon to help Wheego grow.”
Ryan Deatherage, President of AMPCONTROL, says Oklahomans will have a chance to see the Wheego Whip first-hand at the State Capitol in Oklahoma City on September 15. “We are thrilled about this opportunity,” says Deatherage. “When we drove the Wheego for the first time, we knew the right electric vehicle had finally arrived. We invite everyone to come out and see for themselves what a great car this is.”
Mike McQuary, Max Heckl and Ryan Deatherage will be on hand to present the Wheego Whip at the State Capitol, give test drives, and answer questions. The event is expected to begin at 1:30p.m. at the East Plaza of the Capitol.
The initial Wheego offering is the Whip, available now. The Whip is an all-electric LSV which can drive on roads with posted speed limits of 35 miles per hour or less. The Wheego highway-speed all-electric car is expected in 2010. The Wheego Whip is a fully-loaded two-seat compact car with fit, finish and features that compete with any other subcompact car on the market. Features include remote keyless entry, air conditioning, and MP3 stereo system. The all-electric Wheego Whip runs on sealed lead-acid batteries and can be charged from a standard household outlet.
