ATLANTA (October 16, 2009) – WHEEGO ELECTRIC CARS, manufacturer of all-electric cars today announced it has added Ted Britt Automotive as a dealer to represent the Wheego Electric Car product line in Northern Virginia.
“We have found an excellent partner in Ted Britt Automotive,” said Wheego CEO Mike McQuary. “We always look for a dealer with a proven track record, and a passion for Electric Vehicles. One of the things that excites us the most about Ted Britt Automotive is their initiative to educate the community about the benefits of Electric Vehicles. They will work with Thomas Jefferson High School For Science and Technology to develop a solar panel charging station for Electric Vehicles as part of the magnet school’s Technology Fair. We think this progressive thinking on EV issues and commitment to the community will make them an ideal representative of Wheego Electric Cars.”
Wheego President Jeff Boyd, a 30-year automotive industry veteran, appreciates the experience Ted Britt Automotive brings to the table: “Ted Britt Automotive has been around since 1959, and has built a solid reputation in Northern Virginia. But they are anything but old-school in their view of the future of automobiles. They understand the potential of Electric Vehicles and are ready to champion their benefits to their customers.”
Ted Britt Automotive will host a Wheego Test-Drive Event on Saturday, October 24 from noon to 3 p.m. at their SmartWheels location, 1101 Main Street, Fairfax, VA 22030. Members of the public are invited to test drive the Wheego Whip and take a look under the hood. “I’ve done my research,” says Ted Britt Automotive spokesman Ray Britt, “and the Wheego is clearly the leader in all-electric vehicles. It’s an affordable solution for our environmentally-conscious customers. We invite anyone who’d like to learn about EVs to come out and take a test drive.”
The initial Wheego offering is the Whip, which is available now. The Whip is an all-electric LSV (Low Speed Vehicle) which can drive on roads with posted speed limits of 35 miles per hour or less. A full-speed Wheego Whip all-electric car is expected in 2010. The Wheego Whip LSV is a fully-loaded two-seat compact car with fit, finish and features that compete with any other subcompact car on the market. Features include remote keyless entry, air conditioning, and an MP3 stereo system. The all-electric Wheego Whip LSV runs on sealed lead-acid batteries and can be charged from a standard household outlet. It qualifies for a $7500 Federal Tax Credit through the end of 2009.
