At Least 40 Dead in Indian Road Accidents

Police say at least 40 people died late Wednesday in two road accidents in northern India.

Both vehicles, traveling on steep mountain roads plunged off the road and down into deep gorges. One of the vehicles was a truck carrying a wedding party.

Police say the other vehicle contained seven people.

Both accidents took place in the Chamba district of the state of Himachal Pradesh.
