U.S. authorities say 13 people were killed and six critically injured early Saturday in New York City when a tour bus flipped on its side and crashed into a large support post for a highway sign.
Police said the bus driver told them a tractor trailer clipped the bus from behind, sending it swerving and skidding into the sign support. The post stood intact, nearly slicing the bus in two from front to back at the window level.
Police began a hunt for the driver of the truck, which did not stop after the crash.
All 32 people aboard the bus were either killed or injured. The bus was returning to the city from a trip to a casino in the neighboring state of Connecticut.
