Vacations can be stressful. Which is totally absurd since the whole point is to get away from our usual stressful lives. There is just something worrisome about being away from home base for some of us. I know without some place to collect myself and put my life back together every few hours I get pretty stressed. It is not that I am some kind of neurotic monster, though it's that too, but I just like my own space. I don't let this keep me from taking trips though. What I do is much simpler and allows me to have a make-shift "home base" wherever I may go. Car rental is a great way to keep a trip organized in one central and also, mobile location. That rented car or van rental can become a little apartment on wheels if you plan this thing out right. You can house your valuables there, use parking spots as clear meet up points and if push comes to shove, take a nap in there somewhere along the road. Car rental is convenient and always reliable.
Every year I plan my summer vacation and every year car rental is one of the first arrangements I make. For longer trips or ones with more people I will sometimes indulge in a van rental. A 15 passenger van rental can be a great step up for a trip that could get uncomfortable and cramped. If I have five or more people I will spring for the fifteen seater. It makes sense for everyone to get a chance to stretch out and get comfy. That is after all what vacationing is all about!
Even if your trip is not breaking your own vacation attendance records a car rental just makes sense. I have done more than a few trips solo and in a fresh car rental. Everything is perfect from the radio to the cup holders to the air conditioning. Try finding the charter bus that is totally hospitable. Better yet, find me the flight that allows you to travel with this sort of ease and comfort. There are no pat-downs when you rent a car! In fact there are hardly any inconveniences at all. What's more when you arrive at your location you will not be married to a friend to get around and you will not be figuring out an entirely unfamiliar public transportation system. You are your own boss on your trip, which you deserve.
Things don't get much funner than driving in the summer with your favorite tunes on heading towards some chosen destination packed with awesome adventures. It is a uniquely American experience, the feeling of the highway unfolding before you and the sense of opportunity and diversity of experience. With a car rental, you don't have to worry about that experience taking over the driver's seat.
