If you are looking for one of the most iconic classic cars of all time, easily has to be the Mercedes Benz 300Sc Cabriolet. This classic car was first introduced in 1951 and was manufactured until 1958. What makes this vehicle a classic is that it's considered to be one of the most graceful creations after World War II. The times it was manufactured signaled the rebuilding of a nation, so it can be considered as an icon of recovery for the automotive industry after the war. Incidentally, this vehicle is constructed from the finest materials of its time, using the best and the latest in technology to create a strong and lightweight vehicle unlike any other.

Since it is a classic car, you can expect that the Mercedes Benz 300Sc is quite limited in number. Around 300 cars were produced during its production runs, not a lot of these cars still remain intact and running at present. It was first introduced at the Frankfurt Auto Show, but the succeeding creations were presented in the Paris Auto Show.

The Mercedes Benz 300Sc Cabriolet was built using traditional construction, which is the body-on-frame type. This is quite advantageous for the 300Sc Cabriolet because it maintained a high level of quality especially for cars which are produced in limited amounts. Design-wise, the front part of the car is suspended in place using an independent suspension, while the rear part has the swing axle with coil springs.

This car, even though it was produced after World War II, packs quite a punch under the hood. It is equipped with a 2996cc six cylinder engine, complete with a Bosch mechanical fuel injection. It is capable of squeezing up to 175 horsepower from its core. So if you consider the cars size and weight, as well as its modest wheelbase, you'll understand that the 175 horses of an engine are more than enough to push this car to its limits. You'll be speeding through highways and city streets with very little effort. Combine this speed with the luxury and uniqueness of the Mercedes Benz 300Sc Cabriolet, and you have a full pledged classic car at hand.

What makes this classic car iconic is that it has appeared in a lot of movies in the fifties and the succeeding decades. One well known personality who owned a 300Sc Cabriolet is Clark Gable. He enjoyed using this car, and continued to do so until his untimely death in 1960. It was kept by his wife in their garage unused, until it was sold to a collector for a handsome sum after 20 years.
