How To Take a Road Trip: With or Without a 15 Passenger Van Rental

The great American road trip is a quintessential part of American culture, much like the blues and apple pie. But that doesn't mean it's easy. In fact, crossing more than 2,500 miles of prairie, mountains, desert and forest can be grueling and to really make it count, it can take two weeks or more. One of the best ways to make it easier on you is to have enough room. Think about a 15 passenger van rental if you are going with more than two or three people. Having that extra space means that you won't have to worry about fitting stuff into your car, and it's important to prepare for a fluctuation of temperatures: even if you're traveling in the warm months, the many different climates could produce snow and freezing lows. And with all that room, you could even sleep in the van for a couple of nights, if need be.

It's important to pack lots of food and water on your trip, which you can buy on the road. Stopping at roadside diners can not only be very expensive, it can also be unhealthy. Two weeks of eating cheeseburgers and iceberg lettuce salads aren't going to make you look any better, especially when you're sitting in a car for six hours a day.

Make a plan of what you want to see and do. You won't get to see Oklahoma again anytime soon, so research all of the parks and important sites to see it all. Don't be afraid to linger in certain areas that are of greater interest either. For example, maybe your family likes to camp. Pitch a tent for a couple of days and hike the trails. Or maybe urban cultural events are more your speed. It all depends on how much time you have and where your interests lie.

Take lots of pictures. Twenty years from now you will only be able to remember faint traces of memories, while with a camera you can capture specific details.

Ultimately it's important to take it all in and have fun. Try not to limit yourself and make sure you always have more than a half tank of gas, especially when you're in rural areas - you don't want to be stuck in that 15 passenger van rental with nowhere to go. Enjoy and good luck!
