The Keebler Elf and Eldora (A short report)

Wow, Kyle Busch just keeps finding trouble, doesn't he? His car failed post-race inspection after Pocono because the left front was 1/16th of an inch too low. This doesn't sound like much, but NASCAR thought enough of it to confiscate the ride, and take it back to the Research and Development Center in Charlotte for a closer look. Busch's crew chief tried to speculate why the car was low, citing the possibility of race damage, but also stated he didn't want to make excuses. It should be interesting to see the announcement NASCAR plans to make regarding this situation in the coming days. Hell, who knows, maybe Richard Childress slipped it a Mickey sometime during the race. Kyle Busch continues to be the driver most of us love to hate which is unfortunate because his talent level does not warrant this sort of incident or his bad attitude. Without question he is one of the most talented drivers in NASCAR's modern era, so the need he feels to be such a prick befuddles me. Kyle IS handling the media better this season, but what he does on-track, to me, makes him nothing more than a punk on four wheels. Even if this latest incident is discovered to be a deliberate action, it still didn't help him win the race as he came home third!

Recently, we attended our second Prelude to the Dream at Tony Stewart's Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, OH. Due to my work schedule, the last time I was there was 2006, and we had reserved seats. However, this time, I took a gamble on paying less money on two general admission tickets. Folks, let me tell you, if you want the FULL dirt track experience, these were the best seats in the house! (Even though you had to bring your own lawn chair and sit in the turns) I think I'm STILL picking dirt out of my nose and washing it out of my ears. The view was excellent, and we were covered in filth! We had to rinse our mouths out because smiling allowed the dirt in. There is no such thing as a bad seat at Eldora as you can see the entire track from anywhere at the facility. However, if I get a chance to go again next year, I'm taking my own chair and getting dirty! Clint Bowyer put on a dirt track clinic, plain and simple. He schooled the entire field from the drop of the green flag. Sometimes it's pretty cool to see drivers have to turn right to go left!
