Lady Gaga's taste in vehicles hasn't received as much attention as her taste in clothing, but the star was recently spotted in an all-black, top of the line Cadillac Escalade. The luxury SUV is incredibly popular among celebrities, but it was somewhat surprising to hear about Gaga's choice in vehicles the singer's "Born This Way" weirdness apparently doesn't transfer to her love of cars.
It's easy to see why Gaga or anyone else would love a new model Cadillac Escalade. The Escalade has always been the absolute epitome of luxury and quality, and in recent years, Cadillac's only gone further to ensure the vehicle's reputation with a new set of interior options, high-quality finish chrome-alloy wheels and an improved power train.
The 2011 edition comes in several trims, and although there's no word on which the Lady chose, most celebrities prefer the top-of-the-line Platinum Collection option. A Platinum Escalade has a 6.2L V8 and all-wheel drive, with 403 horsepower at 5700 RPM and 417 lb/ft of torque at 4,300 RPM. The Escalade also has a rear entertainment system mounted on the backs of the front seats, which goes nicely with a 5.1 surround sound system courtesy of Bose. The sound system is specially equalized to the Escalade's interior and can be controlled from the rear seats. An XM satellite radio and CD player come standard with the Escalade, although Gaga also has the option of an MP3-in feature on all recent models of the vehicle. Rounding out the interior features, the first and second rows of the vehicle have leather seating, with heated and cooled cup holders, and a power-tilt sunroof is standard on all trim options other than the base.
The Escalade also has LED headlights and a magnetic ride control suspension, ensuring a smooth ride for Gaga and the other celebrities who choose the Cadillac. Twenty-two-inch Escalade wheels with seven-spoke rims are also standard on the Escalade, although many celebrities upgrade the stock Escalade wheels with triple-chrome finish aftermarkets or other alternatives.
Given the fact that Lady Gaga rode to the Grammy awards in an egg, the Cadillac Escalade is a huge step up for the singer. The Escalade has incredible power and luxury, and while it's not the most fuel-efficient vehicle on the market it's rated to get about 13MPG in the city, which makes it a "Bad Romance" from an ecological viewpoint it's the type of luxury vehicle that anyone could learn to love. Gaga's Escalade may not be the weirdest thing about the pop star, but it's certainly an incredible way to get from one concert to the next.
