Publication: The New York Times

Driver Is Stunned as Beast Leaps Before Car.

WILLIMANTIC, Conn., Dec. 8 (AP).—A 200-pound deer was killed, an automobile wrecked and the driver stunned in an accident on the Hartford-Columbia State Highway late last night. Clayton E. Smith, operator of the car, was on his way home in Amston when the deer leaped from the bushes. The animal was struck by the machine and tossed to one side, the impact knocking Smith almost unconscious. He lost control of the automobile, which left the road and overturned. The deer's neck was broken.
