Benteler International AG is a Management Holding Company, coordinating legally independent, internationally active business divisions Automotive, Steel Pipes and Distribution. Benteler was founded in 1876.
Benteler employs 28,166 (FTE) people at 170 locations in 38 countries. Its headquarters are at Salzburg, Austria.
Benteler International AG Divisions
Under the strategic management holding, Benteler International AG, the operative business is organized into the three legally independent business divisions Benteler Automotive, Benteler Steel/Tube and Benteler Distribution within Benteler Deutschland GmbH.
Benteler Automotive
Product Groups: Chassis, Structures, Modules, Engine and Exhaust Systems, Engineering Services, Mechanical Engineering, Defense
Benteler Steel/Tube
Hot finished seamless steel tubes and cold-drawn seamless precision steel tubes as well as welded precision steel tubes and cold-drawn welded precision steel tubes
Benteler Distribution
Customer segments: mechanical engineering, hydraulic cylinders, automotive, construction, healthcare and consumer goods, energy.
Joint ventures/ M&A's
In 2008 the SGL Carbon Company, Wiesbaden, and Paderborn-based Benteler Automotive launched a joint venture to develop, produce and market components based on carbon fiber reinforced composites (CFRP) for the automotive industry with the approval of the antitrust authorities. Each company has a 50 percent stake in the joint venture Benteler SGL GmbH & Co. KG, based in Paderborn.
In January 2010, Benteler Automobiltechnik GmbH, a unit of Benteler AG, acquired automotive structures business of Norsk Hydro ASA, an Oslo-based manufacturer and supplier of aluminum and aluminum products.
