1925: The seven man United States delegation to the Pan American Congress of Highways at Buenos Aires, Argentina, sails from New York on the Grace Line Steamship Santa Ana. The delegation, headed by Herbert H. Rice of the National Automobile Chamber of Commerce, includes Chief Thomas MacDonald. Because the congress does not start until October 3, the delegates plan to stop in Panama, Peru, and Chile. After returning, MacDonald discusses the trip on November 19 at the 11th Annual Meeting of AASHO, in words that become Bureau of Public Roads' guiding policy on international cooperation.

1949: Auto Union GmbH, the second iteration of the pre-WWII automaker, was founded.

1965: Using an acetylene torch, highway officials in Colorado cut a logging chain to mark the opening of a 3-mile segment of I-70, easing one of the State' worst traffic bottlenecks--where traffic diverges to Berthoud Pass and Loveland Pass.

1968: General Motors granted a U.S. design patent for the C3 Chevrolet Corvette.

1969: The film The Italian Job was released.

2008: The first episode of Sons of Anarchy aired.

2012: NEVS completes purchase of Saab.

2014: NASCAR announced that Comcast would sponsor its second highest series, which would become the Xfinity Series.

2016: Carl Reese and Sebastian Montero were granted special access on Chimborazo in Ecuador to set the new world record for riding on motorcycles from the closest point on Earth to the sun to an elevation at sea level in a single day. Reese and Montero reached a gain/loss in elevation of 56,678 feet during their endeavor. Although Chimborazo is typically off-limits to motorcycles due to the remoteness of the mountain in the case of an emergency, Minister of the Interior José Serrano granted Reese and his team special access to the natural wonder.

2019: The Lamborghini Sián FKP 37 was launched in an online show.
