Duration: 17:53
This video begins with a discussion of distresses requiring full-depth repair: blowups, corner breaks, and deteriorated joints and cracks. Field survey methods are shown, and design of transverse joints with connecting dowels is explained. High early-strength concrete and fast-track mixes are discussed. The repair procedures are demonstrated in several steps: sawing the repair boundaries, concrete removal and base preparation, installation of dowels with gang drills, isolation of longitudinal joints, placing and curing new concrete, and sawing and sealing the joints. Strength criteria for opening to traffic are explained. SHRP tape no.31.
