A research institute at the University of Minnesota. At the end of the 1990's, the Institute was given a grant from the U.S. Department of Transportation for conducting "important research and educational projects on intelligent highways and intelligent vehicles with a special emphasis on the Year 2000 computer problem, which could cause disruptions to advanced transportation technologies."
