Potential Number of Units Affected: 827
All Products Associated with this Recall: 2013-2014 Peterbilt Model 587
Manufacturer: PACCAR Incorporated
SUMMARY: PACCAR Incorporated (PACCAR) is recalling certain model year 2013-2014 Peterbilt 587 vehicles manufactured May 8, 2012, through October 24, 2013, and equipped with Inteva-brand door pad assemblies. Due to loose fasteners, the door pull portion of the door pad assembly may separate from the door when used.
CONSEQUENCE: If an occupant is using the door pull to assist in getting in or out of the vehicle, the sudden detachment of the pull handle may result in a fall, increasing the risk of injury.
REMEDY: PACCAR will notify owners and dealers will inspect and torque the fasteners to the correct specification, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin at the end of February 2014. Customers may contact Paccar at 1-425-468-7400. Peterbilt's number for this recall is 1213G.
NOTES: Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.safercar.gov.
