The Tata Tiago is a hatchback automobile manufactured by Tata Motors. It is expected to be available in India in early 2016. The Tiago is derived from the Tata Kite project, and will be available in petrol and diesel engine versions. The petrol engine is expected to use a three cylinder Revotron aluminium body with 85Ps of peak power. The diesel engine, Revotorq, is expected to be a 1074cc three cylinder engine with 70Ps peak power.
The vehicle was previously announced as the Tata Zica, with "Zica" short for "zippy car". However, on 2 February 2016, Tata announced that the vehicle would be renamed as the name was a homonym of Zika, the virus involved in the ongoing international outbreak. After soliciting suggestions in an online competition, the vehicle was rebranded as the "Tata Tiago", a common Portuguese masculine given name, on 22 February 2016.
Tata Motors launched the Tiago hatchback in India on April 6, 2016 at Rs 3.20 Lac (Ex-Showroom, Delhi). The car is packed with both diesel and petrol powertrains. It is developed with IMPACT concept. Also, the Tiago gets both City and Eco drive modes to result the stunning performance and fuel efficiency. The car is equipped with a Harman developed ConnectNext infotainment system, Juke-car app and first-in-segment smartphone enabled Navigation app to guide the trip.
