Organization
An organization promoting safe transportation in the United States, originally formed in 1882 as the American Street Railway Association, it became the American Transit Association in 1932 and operated under that name until 1974 when it merged with the Institute for Rapid Transit and became the American Public Transit Association. Today the organization is known as the American Public Transportation Association.
