TOLEDO, Ohio (May 14, 2013) - - After a career-best runner up position two weeks ago at Talladega (Ala.) Superspeedway, Mason Mingus and his Win-Tron Racing team know that they must keep their strong start to the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards season alive with Sunday’s Menards 200 presented by Federated Car Care at Toledo Speedway.

In the first four races of the year, the Brentwood, Tennessee native has been wrestling with nine-time ARCA champion Frank Kimmel for control of the championship standings. With one pole, two top-fives and four top-10s, just a mere 30 points separates the long-time veteran from the favorable rookie.

This weekend at the Northern Ohio 0.5-mile oval, the teenager is hoping to gain control of the top spot, further proving that his team will be a contender for the championship. To aid their battle, the Win-Tron Racing team led by 2009 ARCA championship crew chief Mark Rette participated in a private test session last week, where the driver and team left pleased with their results.

“After the test, I think we’ll have a better car than we did at Mobile,” offered Mingus, who sat on the pole and finished a strong fourth in the second race of the season. “I cannot say enough about this Win-Tron Racing team. We are a determined bunch. My debut at Toledo last year was okay. We weren’t bad, but we weren’t great either. I think the benefit of testing will really play into our hands on Sunday.”

Right now, the 18-year old knows that the cagey presence of Kimmel is something he’ll have to get used to as he tries to bring the Mooresville, North Carolina-based team their first ARCA championship.

“We knew going in, and its fact right now that, Frank Kimmel is the driver everyone’s chasing,” added Mingus, driver of the No. 32 Diamond Equipment / Call 811 Before You Dig Toyota Camry. “Thankfully, we’ve had an extremely strong start to the season, so he hasn’t been able to get too far ahead as far as the point standings are concerned. But, Toledo Speedway is another great track of his, so we felt testing will at least help balance the playing field as far as we’re concerned.”

He continued, “I feel really good going into this race though. We have had really good short track cars this year and I have learned a lot since the race there last year. I hope I can get my first ARCA win at Toledo this weekend. I’m confident that (Mark) Rette and the guys have given me a car capable of that. It’s also a great opportunity for our sponsor Call 811 Before You Dig. Ohio 811 is bringing a lot of representatives to the race, so we definitely want to have a good showing for them too.”

Entering Toledo, the Tennessean has 17 ARCA Racing Series races to his credit. During that tenure, he has acquired two top-fives and 11 top-10 finishes, including a second-place run at Talladega (Ala.) Superspeedway in May 2013. Additionally, a pole run last month, also at Mobile (Ala.) International Speedway is his best time trials effort to date.

The Menards 200 presented by Federated Car Care (200 laps / 100 miles) is the fifth of 21 events on the 2013 ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards schedule. The 72nd ARCA race at Toledo Speedway is a two-day show. Practice begins Saturday, May 18 with a forty-five minute practice session planned from 11:45 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. A final practice is scheduled from 1:00 p.m. – 1:45 p.m. Menards pole qualifying presented by Ansell is set for later in the day, slated to begin at 3:30 p.m. The event will take the green flag Sunday, May 19 shortly after 2:00 p.m. The race will be televised live on SPEED.
