SALEM, Indiana (April 25, 2012) - - Salem (Ind.) Speedway is a track notorious for breeding first-time winners in the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards. Mason Mingus, the rising rookie for Win-Tron Racing looks to carve his name into the records books by pulling off that feat in Sunday afternoon’s Kentuckiana Ford Dealers 200.

While Mingus’s first tango with the intimidating and grueling short track did not go as planned last September, the driver of the No. 32 Call 811 Before You Dig Toyota Camry has had a chance to digest on the pros and cons of that weekend and is eager to redeem himself in the third race of the year.

Not only is Mingus ready for a turn-around at the Southern Indiana race-track, but he is eager to deliver the team another top-10 finish this season after the team was shuffled out of the hunt for a strong finish in the most recent contest at Mobile (Ala.) International Speedway.

“Together, we’ve been able to prove that we are capable of running up front,” said the 17-year old development driver. “Circumstances kept us from making it happen at Mobile, but I am determined to do what we need to bring everyone on this Win-Tron Racing team an encouraging finish.”

Mingus noted, “It’s realistic to say that as a team, we know that we’re going to have some bumps in the road as we continue to grow together. I have the utmost confidence in the Win-Tron Racing team. We are really all starting to work well together and everyone else on the team is really encouraging – so that eases the pressure a little bit. Win-Tron has an incredible track record there (Salem) and I feel like I’ve made gains behind the wheel, especially since we tested there. I’m just looking forward to getting back in our No. 32 Call 811 Before You Dig Toyota Camry.”

The former ARCA / CRA Series standout pilot will be carrying the likes of Call 811 Before You Dig, which has been with the Brentwood, Tennessee native since his inception into the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards.

811 is the new number you should call before you begin any digging project. A new, federally-mandated national "Call Before You Dig" number, 811 was created to help protect you from unintentionally hitting underground utility lines while working on digging projects. People digging often make risky assumptions about whether or not they should get their utility lines marked due to concerns about project delays, costs and previous calls about other projects. These assumptions can be life-threatening.

Every digging job requires a call – even small projects like planting trees or shrubs. If you hit an underground utility line while digging, you can harm yourself or those around you, disrupt service to an entire neighborhood and potentially be responsible for fines and repair costs.

“Call 811 Before You Dig is a great program and we want to increase their awareness and I feel that we’re going to make a major dent into that this season,” offered Mingus. “It’s really a great, informational service available and I’m extremely grateful to them for pairing up with me this season. Believe me, we’re going to do everything we can to spread their message and more importantly aim to take them to Victory Lane!”

Nate Thiesse, co-car-owner of Win-Tron Racing offered his thoughts on Sunday’s race for his young protégé. “We’re feeling very confident about Salem this weekend. Mason made huge strides during the test and we’ve been definitely impressed with his ability to adjust in these heavier cars. Our goals for this weekend remained unchanged from Mobile. We just want Mason to get some more seat time and take the checkered flag. Can we win? Absolutely, that’s why we’re going to Salem. But, if we can’t find ourselves in that keen position near the end of the race, we just want to Mason to do exactly what he did at Mobile and that was seeing the checkered flag.”

On top of Salem Speedway, Mingus’s current ARCA schedule also includes, Toledo Speedway, Elko (Minn.) Speedway, Winchester (Ind.) Speedway, New Jersey Motorsports Park, Iowa Speedway, Lucas Oil Raceway and the traditional Fall Salem (Ind.) Speedway classic.

The Kentuckiana Ford Dealers 200 (200 laps / 111 miles) is the third of 20 events on the 2012 ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards schedule. The 91st ARCA race held at Salem Speedway is a two day show. Practice begins Saturday, April 28 with a forty-five minute session planned from 12:00 p.m. - 12:45 p.m. Final practice also consisting of forty-five minutes begins at 1:15 p.m. and will conclude at 2:00 p.m. Menards pole qualifying presented by Ansell is set for later in the day slated to begin at 3:30 p.m. An on-track autograph session has been etched in on race day on Sunday, April 29 set to launch at 11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. The event will take the green flag shortly after 2:15 p.m. The race will not be televised but race coverage including live timing and scoring will be available through the ARCA Racing Network (ARN) online at arcaracing.com. All times are local.

In addition to Call 811 Before You Dig, Diamond Equipment will leap aboard the team as an associate marketing partner for Mingus’s third-career ARCA start.
